Weakened abdominal muscles and anterior pelvic tilt.
Causes
- Congenital spinal deformity
- Weakened of the abdominal muscle
- Poor postural habits
- Overtraining in sports, Lumber Hyperextension
. Gymnastics, figure skating, swimming and butterfly stroke. - Obesity
- Osteoporosis (weakening of bone with age)

Sign and Symptoms
Usually patients with lordosis do not have any symptoms except for the exaggerated spinal
Curvature. Other symptoms which may appear according to the severity of the curvature
Investigation for lordosis
- X-ray
- CT scans
- Bone scan
- MRI scans
Treatment of Lordosis
Treatment of lordosis depends on the severity of lordosis
- If the lordosis is mild, then treatment is usually not required.
- Medications such as NSAIDs or pain killer used to decrease the pain and swelling.
- Braces Should be worn to prevent further worsening of this condition.
- Surgery, For severe cases of lordosis which does not benefit from the above measure, surgery is required where the spine is straightened by using, metal rods
, screws and hooks. - Physical Therapy (Rehablitation)
- Corrective exercises for lordosis
- Stretches for lordosis
- Hip flexor stretch
- Lower back stretch
Strengthening exercises for lordosis
- Abdominal crunch
- Twisting crunch
- Bridge
